MEK is a strong solvent and degreaser. It is excellent for dissolving resins and adhesives and removing old finishes and contact cement. It can be used for cleaning fibreglass repair tools and for thinning fibreglass resins and is an excellent diluent for lacquer thinners. MEK is a highly volatile solvent that evaporates quickly, it is often used by professional paint shops and painters to thin acrylics and lacquers and other projects where epoxies are used.
