What is the Uniform CPA Exam?

One of the world’s leading licensing examinations, the CPA Examination serves to protect the public interest by helping to ensure that only qualified individuals become licensed as Certified Public Accountants (CPAs).

To become a certified public accountant, a candidate must pass all four parts of the Uniform CPA Examination. The examination can be taken at AMERICA-MIDEAST EDUCATIONAL AND TRAINING SERVICES, INC., Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. For a list of test centers, visit www.prometric.com/cpa

Education Requirements 

  • Requirements vary by state/jurisdiction
  • Most states now require 150 semester hours
  • A 4 years Bachelor’s Degree is a must with Accounting related subjects 
  • Number of accounting hours (in the 150 total) is dependent on state requirements

Exam Procedures 

Because each Board of Accountancy has the right to develop its own laws and regulations, while there are variances in this process from state to state, the basic process is: 

  1. Apply to a Board of Accountancy
  2. Receive your Notice to Schedule (NTS)
  3. Schedule your Examination
  4. Take your Examination(s)
  5. Receive your Score Report(s)

Testing Windows (International Locations):

Examination Credits: 

Most jurisdictions allow a maximum of 18 months to pass all remaining sections in order to retain credit on the passed section(s).
